Finishing Your Project in FCPX
Oliver Peter’s has a great article on colour grading in FCP X to finish your project. Demonstrating just how much is possible (although why wouldn’t you just use DaVinci Resolve Lite?) in the latest version of Apple’s ‘pro-ish’ software.
Peter’s article is also a great article if you’re learning how to do any form of grading, as Peter helpfully lists all the things he’s done to each shot and provides step by step updated images so you can see how each layer of adjustment is contributing to the final look. Peter uses a combination of bespoke effects and preset looks that ship with FCPX.
5.1 Surround Sound Mixing in FCPX
Dan Allen Presents a 20 minute tutorial on how to create a 5.1 surround sound mix in the FCPX timeline. He has also created another useful tutorial on downloading and accessing the sound effects library that ships with FCPX as well, so if you’ve not done that yet, you’re missing out on free sound effects! If you’re after even more FCPX tutorials Dan has a great selection on his youtube channel.
