Which ProRes Codec should I grade with?
Tristan Kneschke from Exit Editorial has an interesting post providing a side by side comparison of how well images hold up in grading when stored as Pro Res LT or Pro Res HQ. Granted they’re coming from a heavily compressed DSLR H.264 file but as its the kind of thing that productions tend to ask (lets save money on drives! – but won’t it look better in HQ?) its interesting to see what conclusions Tristan arrives at.
