DaVinci Resolve v9 public beta released
Head over to Black Magic Design to download the new public beta of DaVinci Resolve v9 and give it a go yourself. You will need to be on Lion or Mountain Lion as apparently there are near constant crashes in Snow Leopard*.
Update: I’ve not had time to install DR9b on my Snow Leopard machine yet, but there is some chatter about whether that will work at all (*the comment above about constant crashes is from DaVinci Resolve Tips on Twitter, whose feed is now showing mixed results) and this thread has a good tip on the best way to go about installing V9 along side V8 (don’t overwrite the v8 database, create a new one for V9). Also check out this post from Eric Naso with a handy excerpt about updating CUDA drivers and RED Rocket drivers before installing.
How to successfully install Resolve v9beta
Patrick Inhoffer from the Tao of Color has just posted this article and video on how to go about installing the new Resolve without destroying your system and getting up and running in a proper fashion.
Alexis Van Hurkman (who just rewrote the Resolve manual to a beefy 600 pages) has posted on 7 new features in Resolve and Denver Riddle of Color Grading Central has also released a short demo of the new features.
The Coloristos on Resolve v9
The Coloristos are back with 2 new episodes of their podcast. Episode 2 focuses entirely on the new release of DaVinci Resolve 9, click the image below to check it out.
Preview of DaVinci Resolve 9 from LAFCPUG
Andrew Balis presented this 30 minute walk through of the new DaVinci Resolve 9 (beta) interface at the recent LAFCPUG meet. I’m not sure who the annoying English guy is chiming in every now and then.
Alexis Van Hurkman on DaVinci Resolve 9
Alexis Van Hurkman also presented a 20 minute walk through on Resolve 9 (alpha) at an earlier Montreal FCPUG meeting after NAB 2012.
