Matching Film Stocks with Film Convert

If you’re looking for a simple way to match your digital footage to what you might get out of a film camera then Film Convert is a New Zealand based company which believes its developed a plugin to pretty seamlessly do just that. Their plugin which works as a stand-alone program or fits inside all the major NLE’s except for Avid.

Film Convert enables you to quickly match digital footage from any digital camera to 19 different film stocks including Kodak Vision 3, Fuji Film stocks and even a Polaroid emulation. They do have data packs to match to specific cameras including RED, Alexa and Canon cameras.

On their site there are several interactive examples of how their Film Convert plugin matches RED One MX footage. Its not 100 percent perfect but it is incredibly close. Check them out for yourself and see what you think.
