Editing Craft – Alan Edward Bell
Alan Edward Bell editor of The Amazing Spiderman and 500 Days of Summer has started a blog where he shares some of his insights and tips into what it takes to shape a performance through nifty hidden vfx techniques.
Alan suggests split screens and morphs which reminded me of the same kind of techniques The Social Network’s post crew used to achieve the pitter-patter rhythm of the film. The Social Network DVD extras are well it for more detailed insights. And if you want more DVD extras check out this previous post on some of the best for editors…
Update: Alan has created this tutorial demonstrating how to speed up an actors slow performance by subtly speed ramping their shots.
