- The Best Amazon Black Friday Deals for Film Editors
It’s that time of year again when Black Friday 2019 rolls around for a retail bonanza with deep discounts on post production services, software and essential gear.
In this post I’ve reached out to all the post production brands I know best to see if they’re running a deal this year, in order to help save you a few bucks and also support their businesses. We’re all in this together after all!
Some of them have offered me exclusive discounts or details of their deals ahead of time, so be sure to check back regularly over the next week or so to see if new deals are available for the thing you’re after.
I’ve also culled Amazon’s Black Friday deals to cherry pick the best deals that I think anyone working in post production would do well to consider. You can jump down the post to those here:
If you hear of a great sale (or are running one) hit the comments or the contact form to let me know!
If you’re currently a little strapped for cash at the minute and can’t snap something up right now – fear not – you can still grab some excellent post production freebies and promo codes, all year round, right here.
Black Friday Deals and Discounts for Film Editors
When it comes to some of the best post production software, hardware and online services for film editors, there are plenty of opportunities to save some of your hard earned cash this Black Friday.
I’ll update this list over the next few weeks of the post as more details become available and offer codes appear online but to get us started I’ve based this year’s list on last year’s final Black Friday Deals list, with the assumption that many of the same companies will be running a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale again this year.
So check back regularly to see what’s new and if your favourite company is running a sale!
Masterclass.com – I probably spend more time watching and enjoying Masterclass.com than I do on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. I don’t know of any other place where you can learn from the world’s best and brightest with such simplicity and high-production values.
For a limited time they are offering a Buy One Give One holiday offer in which you and a smart thinking friend could buddy up and split the cost of an All-Access Pass and get another one for free. Or you could be super generous and buy one and give one away!
Act fast because the deal is almost over! Here’s my review of the All-Access Pass and just some of the amazing people you can learn from, including Aaron Sorkin, Hans Zimmer, Ron Howard, Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson and many, many more!
Hedge – My favourite file back up and verified transfer app (review here) have up to 40% off some of their small bundles and $185 off their ”Full Monty” bundle of every single one of their products during their sale. That includes Hedge, Canister, Foolcat and Checkpoint.
Their big ticket item is receiving $1000 of Hedge credit when you buy an mTape LTO drive before the end of the month. If you need to store files safely and securely for the long-term then you need to look into LTO.
Master The Workflow – The best feature film assistant editor training course I’ve seen (in-depth review here and 1 year later update review here) are offering $100 off their usual pricing and opening their doors for a final enrolment of 2019.
So if you’re eye-ing up moving into assistant editing in 2020 then this could be the spring board you need. Not only will you have access to a working Assistant Editor’s (secret sauce) codebook, excellent detailed online video training and lifetime access to their private members Facebook group (think jobs, 24/7 problem solving etc.) but you’ll also save $100.
Use the coupon code: BFSALE19 on from 12 am PST on Black Friday through to December 1st!
Inside The Edit – Without doubt the best documentary editing course you can take online today is Inside The Edit. I’ve written about it several times and it’s a core part of my (hypothetical) Alternate Film School for Editors.
They are offering a princely 50% off their subscription pricing from Black Friday through to Tuesday December 3rd. This means you could have life-time access to this high calibre course for only £499.
If you’ve missed this deal you can still save 25% on the course year round with the promo code: JonnyElwyn
LearnColourGrading.com – Alex Jordan who runs a popular YouTube channel on colour grading in DaVinci Resolve usually offers his 10-course in-depth training at rock-bottom prices over Black Friday. This year is no different and for just $97 you can get access to all 10 of his courses, plus his 200 LUT pack. That’s a saving of $600!
This includes life-time access to the course and free updates as they amend the teaching to keep track with DaVinci Resolve’s on-going developments. His training also covers every aspect of DaVinci Resolve including editing, grading, compositing in Fusion, using the Fairlight page and much more. The sale ends midnight on the 2nd of December.
**LowePost.com – If there has been one site that has been consistently offering incredibly good value for money it’s LowePost.com. During the past year it’s smashed out a superb series of colour grading training videos and insights from industry insiders, all for just $59 a year. That works out to less than $5 a month!
Well they seem to have come to their senses because I’ve heard that LowePost will likely be transitioning to a new price and subscription model very soon, possibly even before the end of the year. After that the price will go up, but to be fair, they’ve been under-pricing themselves for sometime!
So if you want to secure yourself an ABSOLUTE BARGAIN, be sure to sign up NOW for their incredible training at just $59. They honour a life-time price lock (for as long as you maintain your membership) so don’t miss out and sign up today at this special link!
If you want to learn more about what LowePost have to offer you can check out my detailed review here.
