Avid Media Composer to DaVinci Resolve

Final Cut Pro 7 to DaVinci Resolve

I haven’t found a FCP7 to Resolve 9 video tutorial, but the steps are almost identical to those for Premiere Pro with a simple XML interchange. Instead check out this post from Ilovehue.net who has a great 11 page pdf which you can send to clients who are preparing their own FCP7 projects to hand over to you the colorist. They don’t need Resolve to follow these steps but it will make for a much smoother handover process. Mathieu’s pdf is also a great primer for any colorist on what notes to include when accepting a grading project.

  • Hi Jonny! Great article. The round trip of a Premiere multicam sequence to Resolve would be the same? I’ve tried to export XML from Premiere to Resolve and it doesn’t link the media of the Premiere multicam sequence. Do you know how can i solve it? Thanks.

    • Hey George
Great question, I’m afraid I don’t know the answer but can’t you just flatten your multicam sequence first as you won’t need to grade the unused angles? I don’t know premiere too well though… Any better suggestions anyone?
