Prometheus Visual Effects Breakdowns

Behind the scenes on Prometheus

With the release of Ridley Scott’s epic Prometheus a plethora of visual effects breakdown articles have popped up. Here are some of the best around:

FXGuide TV has a 36 minute episode featuring several interviews with the visual effects supervisors on the film including Richard Stammers and Charlie Hadley from MPC. There are more super-geek details than you could possibly wish for…

Grading Prometheus – Stephen Nakamura

A lot of Ridley Scott’s films are graded by Stephen Nakamura and Prometheus is no exception. This article on Creative Cow has some really good details on managing the range of deliverables (2D, IMAX and various 3D grades, plus blu-ray and dvd!) and how to keep details in the shadows in a dark movie. Nakamura graded with DaVinci Resolve.

Designing Prometheus

io9.com has an interesting article about the design work on Prometheus called 10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Making of Prometheus.

Like Bladerunner and Alien half the joy of Ridley Scott films is the detailed design of the world and its inhabitants.
